Visual & Mobile
Fresh screenshots captured September 25, 2026 (1440×900 desktop, 390×844 mobile)
Desktop is clean, on-brand, and professional across every page template tested. Mobile has real, verified defects: pinch-zoom is disabled, the two most prominent phone touchpoints on the site are not tappable links, text clips at the viewport edge in the top bar and hero, and a fixed-position CTA overlaps the page heading on the city-page template. For a home-services lead-gen business where mobile call volume is the primary conversion path, these are significant, not cosmetic.
The Mobile Defects
Confirmed in the live HTML: the primary "CALL US" hero button's href points to /contact-tree-service-company/, not a tel: link. Separately, the always-visible top-bar phone number is plain text with no tel: wrapper at all:
A working tel: link does exist lower on the homepage, but it's below the fold — not the header number a mobile visitor sees first. For a phone-driven service business, these are the two highest-traffic conversion touchpoints on the entire site.
Fix: wrap the top-bar number in tel:17139669955 and change the "CALL US" button's href to the same.
Reproducible in both a 2x-DPR and a follow-up 1x-DPR capture: the top-bar address ("...TX • 774[29]"), the hero subtitle ("GREEN INDUSTRY TREE[ SERVICES]", "SERVING CYPRESS TEXAS[, HOUSTON AND SURROUNDING AREAS]"), and the floating "SCHEDULE AN APPOINTME[NT]" button label all run past the right edge of a 390px viewport instead of wrapping or scaling. This affects the top bar, the slider text, and the floating CTA — three unrelated components, suggesting the Divi slider/floating-button modules aren't properly constrained to max-width: 100vw on small viewports.
Confirmed via live HTML: <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0, maximum-scale=1.0, user-scalable=0" />. A WCAG 1.4.4 (Resize Text) failure, and especially costly combined with VIS-02 — a visitor can't zoom out to read the clipped text or realize a horizontal scrollbar exists. The maximum-scale=1.0, user-scalable=0 restriction has been removed sitewide (fixed in functions.php earlier this engagement). Live tag now reads <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0" /> — pinch-zoom works normally. VIS-02's text-clipping issue is unrelated and still open.
On the Katy city page (1440×900), a fixed-position black "SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT" button renders directly on top of the page's heading ("...Katy, TX!"), obscuring roughly half the text behind the button box — visible letter fragments poke out from behind it. This is a genuine layout bug at a fixed screen position, not a scroll artifact, and because all ~50 city pages share this template, it likely recurs on any city page where the heading sits at a similar vertical position.
Status (Oct 4, 2026): traced to the sitewide BNE Flyout plugin's button (position: fixed; bottom: 0px, no viewport restriction in the plugin's own CSS) — confirmed it wasn't Katy-specific, and no plugin setting exists to delay/reposition it. Fixed via functions.php: the button now stays hidden until the visitor scrolls past the hero (~350px), sitewide at all viewport widths, not just mobile. Verified live by screenshot at 1400×900 (matching the original bug's resolution): hidden at initial load, reappears cleanly after scrolling with no heading/text overlap — only a minor edge-touch on decorative gallery thumbnails remains, a normal/expected amount of overlap for a floating CTA.
Desktop: Clean and Professional
What Passes
- Clear H1 present and visible without scrolling on both desktop and mobile
- Top bar shows address, phone, a 5-star rating badge, and social icons above the fold on desktop
- Hamburger menu and hero/floating CTA buttons are sized adequately for tapping — sizing itself is not the problem, destination and text wrapping are
- No broken layouts, missing images, or unstyled content on any of the 3 secondary page templates checked
- City and service pages inherit the same clean, consistent Divi header/nav and visual polish as the homepage
- Two non-tappable phone touchpoints, disabled zoom, mobile text clipping, and an overlapping-button bug: the four real defects above
